The Nature center had a butterfly garden with a few flowers still blooming (we have not yet had a hard frost). These are cosmos blooms with maple trees in the background. |
The sun shining through maple leaves. As a general rule, I don't like shooting directly into the sun, but on this occasion, I think it worked out all right. |
Ben and Joey beside a rock outside the butterfly garden. |
There is a boardwalk through the marsh at the nature center. In the foreground here are some white berries (don't know what kind) with Chris and the kids in the background. A larger f-stop number (smaller aperture) might have gotten the family into the depth of field, but that would have required a shutter speed slow enough to need a tripod. |
In a rare moment, I handed over the camera to Chris, who took my photo with the kids. |
She handed it back and I convinced her to step into the frame. Both of these photos could have been improved if I had remembered to turn on the flash, so the faces were not so dark. Maybe next time I'll remember. |
I was hoping to use this leaning tree as a frame for a photo of Chris, but I was so busy setting up the frame that I let her get too far ahead. |
Better luck this time, although no framing features. She really is pretty, don't you think? |
There was an "A"-frame bridge over the stream connecting two of the ponds. I'm at the top looking down on the family. |
A parting shot as we were leaving. |
